La Gré des Landes, La Gacilly, France. The ecohotel designed and managed by Yves Rocher company is a very enjoyable retreat for a long spa weekend.
I invited my parents and their friends for their 40th anniversary. Do you envy them? I do sometimes 🙂 But back to our subject…
The hotel is not particularly easy to find in the village but its location is delightful. On top of a hill, next to a forest, the hotel has a great view on the countryside. The place is quiet and the hotel almost invisible from outside.
Made from wood, the structure looks light and modern (All I like!). They grow vegetables for the restaurant, have nice pieces of art in the garden and offer a spa with an incredible view. What could they do more?
Well, as food lovers, we were a bit disappointed by the diner (and I was even more because I have chosen the place myself). The execution and the dishes where not what you could expect from a similar restaurant. But the breakfast made it to me. A full organic breakfast, with lots of sweet and savory dishes.
Nothing to say about the rooms…. They have all a nice terrace and are large and spacious. The bathroom is user friendly and you can try all Yves Rocher products (soap, shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, etc). It actually did reconcile me with Yves Rocher. Their products are better than they were a few years ago.
From the hotel, you can walk down to the village where you will directly find the Yves Rocher foundation and restaurant. It’s nice place but becareful, the restaurant is only open during the summer season.
An advice, try to coordinate your stay at the hotel with the photography festival. It’s a very unusual event where you will, I am sure, enjoy the quality and the originality of the work. Try also the art gallery next to the tourist office and the nice handicraft shops in the village.
